A light painting is made to be lived with and visited from time to time, as its gently shifting luminosity enlivens the room. The rate of color-change can be adjusted by the user, but slow changes, near the threshold of perceptible change, are often the most interesting. The viewer can appreciate an entire color composition before it changes, then watch the incremental effects of the evolving colors. However, after a brief interruption of attention, a newly emerged composition will surprise and re-engage the viewer.
